ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is considering expanding its protest movement nationwide following internal discussions that revealed differing views on strategy, leadership decisions, and handling of recent political developments.
According to an inside account of a party meeting members debated broadening the scope of ongoing demonstrations, with some participants urging stronger mobilization across the country to increase political pressure.
Sources indicated that criticism emerged during the meeting over the absence of a party representative during a recent medical examination of the PTI founder. Some participants argued that the party’s nominated representative should have been allowed to attend and emphasized that family presence during medical assessments was important for transparency and trust.
Several members also reportedly voiced criticism directed at Aleema Khan, reflecting internal disagreements over the role of family members in party matters. Participants alleged that authorities were restricting meetings between the PTI founder and family members, though officials have not publicly commented on these claims.
A message from opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai was also shared during the session, urging that any protest movement should remain peaceful and within legal boundaries.
Party members said Barrister Gohar Ali Khan should take a decisive role in shaping the party’s next steps, stressing unity behind leadership decisions. Discussions reportedly highlighted the need to clarify the party’s protest strategy, with some participants calling for reduced involvement of family members to avoid confusion over political messaging.
The meeting reflects growing debate within PTI over its political approach amid ongoing tensions with the government. Analysts say the party’s next move will likely shape the broader political climate, especially if nationwide demonstrations are formally announced.
