Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah Opposes Karachi Province Proposal

Date:

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday rejected calls for the creation of a separate province in Karachi, stating that citizens do not support such proposals.

Speaking at the inauguration of a bridge in Karachi, Murad Ali Shah warned against propaganda that misleads the public. “Proposals to make Karachi a province will not succeed, neither by my wish nor anyone else’s. The Constitution must prevail,” he said.

He noted that while the Punjab Assembly has passed resolutions for creating new provinces, the Sindh government will not follow suit. “Sindh played a pivotal role in the creation of Pakistan. Anyone talking about breaking the province is not loyal to our history,” he added.

Without naming any party, the Chief Minister indirectly addressed the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), emphasizing that strengthening local government was already part of the Sindh government’s manifesto. He also referenced the city’s past challenges, stating that during the MQM’s leadership, terrorism and “bodies in sacks” were prevalent, and that no further mismanagement in Karachi would be tolerated.

Murad Ali Shah urged residents to focus on development and constructive work instead of being swayed by divisive rhetoric.
