Dubai, UAE – Web Desk: Emails revealed in the so-called “Epstein Files” have triggered global controversy and reportedly led to the resignation of Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DP World, one of the world’s largest port operators, according to international media reports.
The company confirmed that bin Sulayem’s resignation was accepted with immediate effect, appointing Issa Kazim as Chairman and Yuvraj Narayan as the new Chief Executive Officer. The disclosures have added pressure on the company amid heightened scrutiny from investors and financial institutions.
Recently released documents suggest that Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted sex offender, maintained extensive correspondence with bin Sulayem over more than a decade. The email exchanges, dating back to 2007, reportedly covered travel plans, business proposals, and discussions on financial and technology projects, including digital currency initiatives in Dubai.
Some emails also included personal and social exchanges, with Epstein referring to bin Sulayem as a trusted associate in a 2013 message. Additional messages contained references to women and included a 2017 email indicating arrangements for training a private masseuse at a hotel in Turkey. According to the email trail, the woman held a Russian passport, and hotel representatives confirmed the training program.
The documents also reveal Epstein’s attempts to facilitate political and business connections for DP World, including outreach to British politician Lord Mandelson, suggesting a role as an informal intermediary. However, the correspondence does not constitute proof of wrongdoing by bin Sulayem, according to reports.
Following the revelations, DP World faced mounting pressure from investors. The UK’s development finance agency and a major Canadian pension fund reportedly halted new investments, contributing to corporate and reputational challenges for the company.
Jeffrey Epstein was convicted in 2008 for soliciting a minor for prostitution and died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. The release of the Epstein-related documents continues to expose connections with high-profile figures worldwide.
