Islamabad, Pakistan — Web Desk: Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has alleged that false witnesses are being presented in ongoing court cases against her brother. Speaking to media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), she said she will visit the Supreme Court tomorrow to learn the status of reports related to the cases.
Aleema Khan highlighted her brother’s ongoing eye health issues, stating that while the government claims treatment has been provided, details of the medical care remain unclear. “We do not know who treated him or what procedure was done. Instead of saving his eyesight, the authorities seem intent on keeping him isolated,” she said.
She asserted that Imran Khan is imprisoned because of his love for the country and the people. “Everyone knows that the founder of PTI is the only one capable of uniting the nation,” she added.
Referring to the February 8 protests, Aleema Khan claimed that authorities attempted to distract public attention by spreading misleading news. She also commented on Lahore’s Basant festivities, saying that her and her family’s involvement was peaceful and symbolic, with kite flying from their homes rather than public rallies.
Lawyer Faisal Malik, representing Aleema Khan, stated that the prosecution’s case relies heavily on a USB containing over 65 videos. He described the material as disputed and irrelevant, arguing that the court should dismiss it. “The videos are confusing, with unclear sources and context, and should not be considered credible evidence,” Malik said, calling the case politically motivated.
Aleema Khan urged the judiciary to uphold the rule of law and ensure justice. “The founder of PTI stands for the supremacy of law, and we appeal to the courts to act fairly,” she said.
The remarks come amid heightened political tensions in Pakistan, where legal proceedings against prominent PTI leaders have drawn national and international attention. Analysts note that the outcome of these cases could significantly impact Pakistan’s political landscape ahead of upcoming elections.
