Karachi, Pakistan — Web Desk: A major water pipeline burst occurred at the Dhabeji Pumping Station following a power breakdown, causing massive water loss and flooding in nearby areas. According to the Water Corporation, the 72-inch diameter Line No. 5 ruptured due to back pressure, wasting millions of gallons of water.
Officials confirmed that emergency repair work is underway after shutting down the affected line, but the restoration process will take up to 24 hours. The breakdown is expected to reduce Karachi’s water supply by nearly 100 million gallons.
Authorities revealed that just four days earlier, a similar power failure at the pumping station had caused Line No. 5 and Line No. 2 to burst, highlighting ongoing infrastructure and power stability concerns.
