Islamabad, Pakistan — Web Desk: Pakistan edged past the Netherlands by three wickets in a thrilling T20 World Cup opener, with Faheem Ashraf’s explosive 29 off 11 balls steering the team to victory after a shaky chase of 148.
Despite a solid start, Pakistan’s middle order struggled, with senior batters including Babar Azam, Usman Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, and Shadab Khan failing to make an impact, raising fears of an upset defeat.
Faheem Ashraf turned the game around with a powerful cameo, guiding Pakistan home in a tense finish. Following the match, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi shared photos of Faheem’s twin sons, Hasan and Hussain, on social media and dedicated the national team’s victory to them.
Naqvi also praised the Netherlands for a spirited performance and offered prayers for the twins’ health and a happy future.
