Supreme Leader says foreign-backed elements tried to turn protests violent, foiled by Iranian unity
Tehran, Iran | Web Desk — Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has accused the United States and Israel of orchestrating recent unrest in Iran, describing it as a foreign-backed coup attempt that was successfully thwarted by the Iranian people.
In a statement shared via social media, Khamenei emphasized that while some merchant demands were legitimate, violent elements tried to hijack peaceful protests. He claimed evidence indicates that the unrest was coordinated from abroad, with the CIA and Israeli intelligence agency Mossad allegedly providing support to disrupt the nation.
Khamenei warned that Iran continues to face pressures from global powers and similar attempts could occur until foreign adversaries are fully deterred. He praised the vigilance and unity of the Iranian population for resisting the plot and separating themselves from violent elements.
The Supreme Leader’s remarks underscore Tehran’s stance that foreign intervention attempts will fail against a united citizenry, highlighting ongoing tensions between Iran, the US, and Israel.
