177 terrorists killed, 16 security personnel, 33 civilians martyred; defense minister urges strong measures
Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif emphasized the urgent need for large-scale military deployment in Balochistan, citing the region’s challenging geography and recent security incidents. Over the past two days, 177 terrorists were killed, while 16 security personnel and 33 civilians lost their lives.
Addressing the National Assembly, Asif highlighted the government’s crackdown on smuggling, particularly at the Chaman border, and condemned those using political or nationalist fronts for illicit business gains, reportedly earning 4 billion PKR daily through fuel smuggling.
He stated that tribal elders, bureaucrats, and separatist groups have formed networks to shield criminals. Asif further noted the province’s growing educational and healthcare infrastructure, the implementation of operational airports, and the need for national unity to eliminate corruption and boost development.
