Focus on economic reforms, CPF priorities, infrastructure & education cooperation
Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a high-level meeting with World Bank Group President Ajay Banga in Islamabad, highlighting Pakistan’s economic reforms and long-term partnership under the 10-year Country Partnership Framework (CPF). The leaders discussed rapid implementation of CPF-aligned priorities, infrastructure development, agriculture, digital growth, energy, human resources, financial reforms, job creation, and private sector investment.
The meeting also emphasized effective monitoring of reforms and efficient use of private resources. PM Shehbaz appreciated the World Bank’s continued support, while Ajay Banga reaffirmed commitment to expanding cooperation under the “One World Bank Group” initiative.
In a concurrent meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed UNESCO Director-General Dr. Khaled El-Enany, congratulating him on his new role and reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to quality education, cultural heritage protection, and global collaboration. Discussions included Pakistan’s Education Emergency program, expansion of school enrollments, and UNESCO’s support in preserving six cultural heritage sites, including Khewra Salt Mines.
