UK Political Shake-Up: Peter Mandelson Resigns Amid Epstein Links

Former Blair ally quits Labour to avoid embarrassment over ties to Jeffrey Epstein

London, United Kingdom | Web Desk: In a dramatic turn of events in UK politics, former minister and close ally of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Peter Mandelson, has resigned from the Labour Party amid renewed reports linking him to convicted American financier Jeffrey Epstein.

According to British media, Mandelson stated he is stepping down to spare the party further embarrassment. In a letter to Labour, he expressed regret and insisted that allegations of financial dealings with Epstein, revealed in recent US Department of Justice files, are false and under investigation.

Mandelson emphasized that until the allegations are thoroughly examined, he does not want to cause additional harm to the Labour Party. Last year, he was removed from his position as UK ambassador to the US by Prime Minister Starmer following earlier documents linking him to Epstein.

Mandelson, a key strategist during Tony Blair’s 1990s Labour election successes, has had a career marked by both achievements and controversies.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Starmer called on Britain’s former Prince Andrew to testify before the US congressional committee regarding his ties to Epstein.
