Lahore HC receives plea against Punjab Information Minister over fatal negligence incident
Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: A judicial plea has been filed against Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari over the tragic death of a mother and daughter who fell into an open manhole near Bhatti Gate, Lahore. The petition calls for an investigation into the incident, accountability of responsible officials, and compensation for the victims’ family.
The petitioner highlighted systemic negligence in high-density areas, citing that Lahore sees over 10,000 manhole cover thefts annually with insufficient preventive measures. The plea demands the formation of a judicial commission to uncover the truth, 25 crore PKR compensation from negligent officers, and action against officials spreading misinformation about the incident.
Authorities named in the petition include the Punjab government, Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Deputy Commissioner Lahore, and other relevant departments. The case underscores growing concerns over urban safety and accountability in Punjab.
