Sharjeel Memon confirms judicial commission to ensure unbiased investigation

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: The Sindh government has announced a judicial commission to investigate the Gul Plaza fire tragedy. Minister for Information Sharjeel Memon stated in a press briefing that no political pressure will influence the probe. Evidence suggests the fire accidentally started from an 11-year-old child, and authorities will present all findings in court.

Memon confirmed that all responsible officials from civil defense and water supply have been suspended, and anti-corruption investigations are underway to address lease violations and procedural lapses. The judicial commission will be headed by a sitting High Court judge, appointed after a formal request to the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court.

Authorities emphasized transparency, stating that financial relief has already been provided to victims’ families, and the commission will determine accountability without bias. The government urged political parties to refrain from exploiting the tragedy and to let judicial proceedings unfold.
