Death sentences carried out for attackers who killed child, injured 10+ in 2023 blast
Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has executed two ISIS-affiliated militants involved in a 2023 bomb attack on a pilgrim bus traveling from Tehran to the border area of Al-Amam in Iraq. The explosion killed a young child and left over ten others severely injured, including one who became permanently disabled.
Investigations revealed that one suspect planted the bomb while the other triggered it. Both militants admitted their crimes during questioning. The court sentenced them to death, a ruling later upheld by Iran’s Supreme Court. The executions were carried out today, though authorities have not disclosed the identities of the convicted; independent sources claim both were Iranian citizens.
Iran ranks among the world’s top countries for executions, following China and Saudi Arabia, often keeping judicial proceedings confidential.
