RAF Typhoon squadron sent to Gulf as Middle East tensions escalate
London, United Kingdom (Web Desk): The United Kingdom has deployed Royal Air Force (RAF) fighter jets to Qatar amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, signaling heightened military readiness in the Middle East.
According to foreign media reports, the UK Ministry of Defence confirmed that RAF Typhoon fighter aircraft from the joint UK-Qatar No. 12 Squadron have been stationed in the Gulf region. The deployment is aimed at strengthening defensive operations and reinforcing bilateral defense cooperation between London and Doha.
British officials stated that the move comes in response to rising regional instability, particularly following statements by former US President Donald Trump regarding the movement of American naval and air forces toward Iran. Trump had warned that Iran remains under close surveillance and that military forces have been positioned as a precaution.
Earlier, Trump had claimed the United States would refrain from further strikes unless Iran continues its nuclear program, warning of renewed military action if Tehran fails to comply.
The UK deployment underscores growing international concern over a potential wider conflict in the Middle East, as global powers increase their military presence to safeguard strategic interests and regional allies.
