Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz inaugurates country’s first Green Policing Unit with electric vehicle patrols.

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz unveiled Pakistan’s first-ever Green Policing Unit, introducing electric patrol cars for the first time. The BYD electric vehicles will perform traffic and security patrols, featuring 360-degree cameras, PA systems, police lights, and speed detection tools. Each vehicle can cover up to 410 km per charge and charges 30–80% in just 30 minutes. The move is expected to save 4,500 liters of fuel per car annually, reduce operational costs, and ensure zero carbon emissions. CM Maryam Nawaz directed the phased expansion of the Green Policing Unit across other districts, emphasizing eco-friendly policing and good governance.
