Trump’s Air Force One Faces Technical Glitch Before Switzerland

Date:

Electrical fault forces Air Force One to return; Trump switches planes, departs safely for Davos.

US President Donald Trump experienced a minor technical issue on Air Force One shortly after departing for Switzerland on Tuesday night. The aircraft returned safely to Joint Base Andrews as a precautionary measure following a brief electrical malfunction that temporarily affected the cabin lights.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the plane landed around 0400 GMT. Trump did not cancel his trip and boarded a replacement plane to attend the Davos World Economic Forum the following morning.

Air Force One, a Boeing 747-200B in service since 1990, has been previously criticized by Trump for outdated features. The administration is awaiting new planes and has explored alternatives, including offers from foreign governments, amid security and regulatory concerns.
