Iran Warns of Global Fallout if Supreme Leader Is Attacked

Attack on Ayatollah Khamenei would be seen as war on entire Muslim world, Iran says

Iran has issued a stern warning against any potential attack on its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, stating that such an act would be treated as a declaration of war against the entire Muslim world.

According to Iranian media, the statement was released by the Parliamentary Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy. The commission emphasized that targeting Ayatollah Khamenei would unite not only Iran but the global Muslim community in opposition.

The statement further warned that religious scholars across the world would issue a fatwa for jihad if the Supreme Leader were attacked, triggering a widespread reaction from Muslims globally. Responsibility for any resulting unrest, the commission said, would lie with those behind the attack.

Iran’s president echoed the warning, stating that any harm to Ayatollah Khamenei would lead to a full-scale and comprehensive war, with consequences extending far beyond the region and threatening global stability.

The warning follows recent remarks by former US President Donald Trump, who suggested the need for new leadership in Iran amid ongoing anti-government protests. Ayatollah Khamenei previously accused Trump of directly fueling unrest and violence inside Iran.

In response, Trump claimed that Iran’s leadership relies on severe repression to stay in power and openly encouraged protesters to seize control of Iranian institutions, stating that assistance was “on the way.”
