Karachi: Among the victims of the Gul Plaza fire, a toy importer has reported losing Rs 7 crore in cash, along with trade goods and personal documents. Alauddin Shah, speaking to the media outside the plaza, stated that the cash collected over the weekend, which is normally deposited on Monday mornings, was completely destroyed in the fire.

Shah explained that his office was located in the remaining intact section of the building. With the help of rescue teams, he inspected the site and confirmed that all cash, essential documents, and valuable merchandise were incinerated.

The businessman, who has been operating his toy import business for over 25 years, expressed deep regret over the incident but said there was little that could now be done. He emphasized the massive financial setback and the personal loss caused by the fire.

This incident highlights the devastating impact of the Gul Plaza blaze on small and medium businesses in Karachi, drawing attention to the urgent need for disaster preparedness, insurance coverage, and support for affected traders.
