PAA fails to deposit millions in airport tax, audit reveals

Date:

(Web Desk) – An audit of the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) for the fiscal year 2024-25 has revealed that millions of rupees collected from airlines as airport tax were not deposited into the government treasury.

According to the Audit General of Pakistan, the PAA failed to deposit Rs 46.87 crore collected as airport tax from passengers on issued tickets for the year 2023-24.

The audit report stated that the discrepancy was brought to the authority’s attention in December 2024. The authority acknowledged the non-deposit and assured that the amount would be recovered and deposited.

The report further highlighted that the failure to deposit airport tax indicates weaknesses in the authority’s financial system. Auditors have instructed the PAA to take concrete measures to ensure proper collection and deposit of the funds.
