KARACHI (Web Desk) – Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has foiled a major drug smuggling attempt and recovered drugs worth $154.15 million in an intelligence-based operation.
According to an ANF spokesperson, the Force was continuously monitoring an international drug trafficking organization in Panjgur.
ANF teams took immediate action and stopped and searched a gas container on M-8 Gwadar CPEC Road. Not less than 553.5 kg of ice and 40kg of heroin were seized during the on-site search.
The value of the seized drugs is $154.15 million in the international market.
Two operatives of an organized smuggling network were also arrested during operation and cases were registered against accused.
Leaded by notorious smuggler Ali Jan, this group used to smuggle drugs from Afghanistan through Panjgur via Turbat, Gwadar and Pasni.
This group used to smuggle drugs to Yemen, Tanzania and other countries in huge quantity through speedboats and small boats.
The plan was to smuggle the drugs from Panjgur to Gwadar and then abroad by hiding them in LPG gas container trucks.
This is one of the biggest land-based operations carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Force for the fight against drugs.
Efforts are underway to arrest other accused and facilitators involved in drugs.
Following a zero-tolerance policy, the ANF is continuing its vigorous operations to dismantle organized drug networks.
