Saudi Chief of General Staff Strengthens Defence Ties with Pakistan’s Army Chief at GHQ

RAWALPINDI: The Chief of General Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces, General Fayyadh Bin Hameed Al Rowaili, paid an official visit to General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday, where he held talks with Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir.

The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding and strategic military cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to expanding defence, security and counter-terrorism collaboration.

The two military leaders highlighted the importance of developing their institutional partnership, built on years of mutual trust and shared interests.

During the discussions, General Asim Munir and General Fayyadh emphasised the significance of enhancing joint defence initiatives, as well as deepening cooperation on regional security. Counter-terrorism efforts were highlighted as a key pillar of their bilateral engagement, with both countries historically working together in training, defence production, intelligence sharing and strategic military planning. The talks reflected growing momentum in Pakistan-Saudi military relations, particularly in the context of evolving regional dynamics.

The visiting Saudi dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s cooperation in multiple fields with the Saudi Armed Forces and acknowledged the professionalism and capabilities of the Pakistan Army. General Fayyadh reaffirmed his commitment to building further on the strong bonds of defence collaboration between the two nations. He noted that Saudi Arabia values Pakistan’s role as a trusted and strategic defence partner.

Upon his arrival at General Headquarters, General Fayyadh laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada, paying tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He was also presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army, marking the ceremonial start of his high-level engagement in Pakistan.
