Karachi (Entertainment Desk) :Superstar Mahira Khan delivered a moving response that captured hearts when asked about negative remarks made by some celebrities regarding Karachi.
During a press meet in Karachi for the promotion of her upcoming film Neelofar, where she appeared alongside co-star Fawad Khan, a journalist asked Mahira how she felt about people who claim they dislike visiting the city.
Mahira responded with grace and emotion, saying, “I was born in Karachi. It’s where I was raised. It’s the most special part of my life.” She emphasized that everyone holds a deep love for their hometown because it’s where their memories are rooted. For her, Karachi is home to her parents, grandparents, and childhood — a place deeply connected to her emotions.
Describing the city with affection, Mahira said, “Karachi is like a mother — it opens its arms to everyone. People take so much from this city, and even when they treat it poorly, Karachi forgives them, embraces them again, and says, ‘Come back.’ That’s the true beauty of Karachi.”
Her remarks come in the wake of a recent controversial statement by actress Saba Qamar, who, when asked in an interview if she would ever move to Karachi, exclaimed “Astaghfirullah!” and said she preferred Islamabad and Lahore. The comment sparked backlash on social media.
Meanwhile, Neelofar, starring Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan, is set to release worldwide on November 28, 2025. The film also features a stellar cast including Madiha Imam, Behroze Sabzwari, Atiqa Odho, Samiya Mumtaz, Naveed Shehzad, Faisal Qureshi, and Gohar Rasheed.
Fawad Khan, who plays the role of a professor and also serves as the film’s producer, shared his excitement, stating that the film has been crafted with great dedication and he hopes audiences will embrace it wholeheartedly.
