KARACHI — A tragic accident at Karachi University claimed the life of student Aniqah Saeed on Thursday after she was struck by a university bus inside the campus premises.
According to police officials, the incident occurred near the Social Work Department shortly after Aniqah disembarked from the university transport. The bus driver reportedly reversed the vehicle without noticing her, fatally knocking her down.
Aniqah was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries en route. Police have taken the driver into custody, although the victim’s family has declined to pursue legal action.
The incident sparked immediate protests from students, who gathered on campus to demand enhanced safety protocols and greater accountability from university authorities. Demonstrators called for improved traffic management and stricter oversight of campus transportation.
University officials have stated that an internal investigation is underway to prevent such tragedies in the future. The death of Aniqah Saeed has reignited concerns over student safety and institutional responsibility in Pakistan’s higher education sector.
