LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chairs the inauguration ceremony of electric buses at Expo Center Lahore on Friday.
Addressing the ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz said Punjab government was going to gift 40 more electric buses to Lahore today while 70 more buses will arrive in December.
The CM made it clear that Maryam Nawaz will not apologize and advised PPP leader to think twice before talking about Punjab government.
She said Punjab government has always supported other provinces during difficult time but during floods Punjab has not sought their help.
She claimed that Lahore belongs to Maryam Nawaz, Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif as Pakistan’s first metro, Orange Train were built in Lahore and now Punjab government was advancing state of the art transport facilities in other major cities of the province.
CM Maryam asserted that public will be provided state of the art luxurious buses of global standards. She said that electric buses have been brought to every corner of Punjab. She claimed, “My car does not have Wi-Fi or a charging port, but the public’s car has all the facilities”.
Punjab CM said disabled people who travel in electric buses and do not have wheelchairs will be given wheelchairs. She said there was no government transport system in many cities as a politician from Mianwali took the biggest seat of power but did nothing. She said buses are free for school and college going students, disabled people and people above 60 years of age. She said newly launched electric buses will run from Thokar to Raiwind city.
Talking about housing project, Cm Maryam said 90,000 houses were being built under the Apna Ghar scheme and more people will also get houses.
Punjab CM said it is government’s resolve to ensure access to clean water, adding that underwater storage lines will also be built.
CM Maryam said Punjab government was going to build metro buses in Gujranwala and Faisalabad this year. She said government was giving ration cards, Himmat cards, minority cards to the poor.
The CM said the government was building the world’s largest cancer hospital in Lahore where patients of different diseases will be treated.
DC Musa Raza, Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan, Provincial Minister Sohail Shaukat Butt, Special Assistant Zeeshan Malik, MPA Rana Rashid Minhas, MPA Uzma Butt, MPA Shoaib Siddiqui and a large number of workers attended the ceremony.
Senior minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, MNA Saifulmulok Khokhar, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, MPA Malik Shahbaz Ali Khokhar were present on the occasion.
