6 Soldiers, Including Captain, Martyred in Kurram Anti-Terror Operation

Date:

RAWALIPNDI – Security forces on Wednesday carried out an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Dogar area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district following confirmed reports about the presence of militants linked to Fitna al Khwarij, an Indian-backed proxy group.

The operation led to the elimination of seven militants after a fierce exchange of fire between the troops and the hostile elements, according to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the intense encounter, six soldiers, including a young officer, embraced martyrdom while displaying exceptional courage. Captain Noman Saleem, aged 24 and a resident of Mianwali, served as a Medical Officer and was providing medical assistance while also engaging in combat. He and his team fought valiantly until their last breath.

The other five soldiers who laid down their lives include Havildar Amjad Ali (39, Swabi), Naik Waqas Ahmad (36, Rawalpindi), Sepoy Aijaz Ali (23, Shikarpur), Sepoy Muhammad Waleed (23, Jhelum), and Sepoy Muhammad Shahbaz (32, Khairpur). Their sacrifices add to the long list of Pakistan’s security personnel who have given their lives in the line of duty.

Following the exchange, security forces launched a sanitisation operation in the area to clear any remaining threats. Authorities confirmed that the operation was part of the ongoing national counterterrorism drive under Azm-e-Istehkam, a strategy approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.

The campaign, led jointly by Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies, aims to eradicate terrorism and its foreign-backed networks. Officials stated that operations would continue with full intensity until all elements involved in such activities are neutralised, reaffirming the country’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability.
