Bandar Abbas, Iran – Web Desk: At least 30 fishing boats were destroyed after two missiles struck a fishing jetty in Bandar Abbas, located in Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province, during the recent US military strikes, according to Iranian media.
Reports said members of the board of a local Fishermen’s Cooperative stated that two US missiles hit the fishing pier during attacks carried out on July 8 and July 9, causing extensive damage to fishing vessels moored at the jetty.
A board member of the cooperative said each fishing boat was valued at approximately $11,100, adding that the destruction has inflicted significant financial losses on local fishermen whose livelihoods depend on the fishing industry.
The reported damage comes amid heightened tensions following recent US military strikes on Iran, with concerns growing over the economic impact on coastal communities in the strategic Persian Gulf region.
