La Paz, Bolivia – Web Desk: At least 15 people were killed and around 30 others injured after a Bolivian military cargo aircraft crashed near a busy road close to the capital, La Paz, according to local media reports.

The aircraft was identified as a Lockheed C-130 Hercules, operated by the Bolivian military. Reports said the plane was transporting banknotes at the time of the crash.

Witnesses said the aircraft veered off its route shortly after takeoff and went down near a main roadway. Preliminary reports suggested that adverse weather conditions may have complicated the situation, but authorities said the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials have not confirmed the identities of the victims.

Following the crash, crowds reportedly gathered at the site and attempted to collect scattered banknotes from the wreckage before security forces moved in to disperse them.

Authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the cause of the accident and assess potential safety failures.

The incident has raised concerns about aviation safety and emergency response protocols in the region.
