Bajaur, Pakistan — At least 11 Pakistani security personnel were killed Monday after a terrorist attack targeted a joint security forces and law enforcement checkpost in Bajaur district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The assault, claimed by the Indian proxy group Fitna al Khwarij, was quickly countered by Pakistani forces, who killed 12 militants in a precision operation. ISPR confirmed that the attackers attempted to breach the checkpost’s security, but their plans were foiled.
In a desperate measure, the assailants rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the checkpost’s perimeter wall, causing a massive blast that collapsed the infrastructure. The explosion also damaged nearby civilian homes, claiming the life of a young girl and injuring seven others, including women and children.
Sanitization operations are underway in the area to eliminate any remaining militants. The military emphasized that counterterrorism efforts under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, part of the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace.
“The sacrifices of our brave soldiers and innocent civilians further reinforce our unwavering commitment to safeguarding our nation at all costs,” ISPR said. Security forces remain resolute in eliminating the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
