TARBELA, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the headquarters of the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) in Tarbela on Thursday, where he reviewed the elite force’s specialised training, equipment and operational preparedness, according to the military’s media wing.

The visit focused on the SSG’s mission readiness and its ability to respond to evolving security threats and emerging challenges, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

Upon arrival, Munir was received by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the SSG. He laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument and offered Fateha to pay tribute to SSG personnel who lost their lives in the defence of Pakistan.

CDF reviews SSG training and operational capabilities

During the visit, the field marshal received a briefing on the SSG’s specialised training programmes, operational preparedness and mission-oriented readiness.

He also witnessed a display of specialised equipment and a demonstration showcasing the force’s combat proficiency, agility and precision in conducting special operations.

The demonstration provided an overview of the SSG’s specialised capabilities and training standards, according to the ISPR statement.

Munir stresses sustained training and local capabilities

Interacting with officers and troops, Munir praised their professionalism, high morale and commitment to duty.

He emphasised that sustained training, the development of indigenous capabilities and an uncompromising focus on operational preparedness were essential to maintaining an edge over evolving security threats.

The military statement did not identify any specific new operation or security threat discussed during the visit.

The visit comes amid continued emphasis by Pakistan’s military leadership on training, readiness and counterterrorism preparedness. In a separate visit to Peshawar Corps Headquarters in October, Munir was briefed on the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ongoing counterterrorism operations and border management measures.
