Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei calls for an immediate response without geographical limits to any new threat as tensions rise and diplomatic efforts continue to prevent another regional war.
TEHRAN, IRAN — WEB DESK: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has warned the United States and Israel against launching fresh military attacks, saying Tehran would respond immediately and without geographical restrictions to any new threat.
In a written statement released on Saturday, October 31, Khamenei said Iran’s armed forces and people would determine the timing and conditions for ending any renewed military confrontation.
The warning comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East and growing concerns that the conflict between Iran, the United States and Israel could resume.
Khamenei Orders Immediate Military Response
According to the statement published on his official website, Khamenei instructed senior military commanders to ensure that every level or type of threat receives an immediate and effective response.
He called for a response without geographical limitations, signalling Tehran’s readiness to expand its military response if attacked.
Khamenei also ordered commanders to update Iran’s list of potential targets to include American and Israeli assets, describing them as tangible and intangible targets within the reach of Iranian forces.
Supreme Leader Meets Senior Military Commanders
The warning followed a reported meeting between Khamenei and senior Iranian military officials.
Those attending included Armed Forces Chief of Staff Ali Abdollahi, Army Chief Amir Hatami and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Ahmad Vahidi.
The meeting was reported as the first publicly disclosed gathering between Khamenei and the country’s senior military commanders since the conflict began.
Khamenei has not appeared publicly since becoming supreme leader following the killing of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in US-Israeli strikes in February.
Iran Warns Conflict Could Spread Across Wider Region
Khamenei’s remarks followed a warning from Iranian army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia, who said another US military campaign alongside Israel could engulf a much wider geographical area.
The statement suggested that any renewed confrontation could extend beyond the locations directly involved in the previous fighting.
Iran has previously retaliated against US and Israeli military actions with attacks across the region, raising concerns about the potential impact of another escalation.
Diplomatic Efforts Continue to Prevent New War
Despite the increasingly strong military rhetoric, diplomatic efforts are continuing to prevent another round of fighting.
A Qatari delegation arrived in Tehran on Friday for discussions with Iranian officials. The diplomatic engagement reportedly followed the receipt by Iran of a letter from US Vice President JD Vance.
Iranian media reported that Tehran had not yet issued a response to the letter.
The developments indicate that diplomatic channels remain active even as both sides exchange warnings over possible military action.
Background: US-Israel War With Iran
The latest tensions follow the US-Israeli military strikes against Iran that began on February 28, 2026.
Iran responded with attacks targeting locations across the region, raising fears of a wider Middle East conflict.
Although diplomatic efforts have subsequently sought to reduce tensions, disagreements over regional security and military activities have continued.
Khamenei’s latest warning underscores Tehran’s position that any renewed attack would trigger a response determined by Iran’s military leadership. However, no new US or Israeli attack was confirmed in connection with Saturday’s statement.
