India Add Auqib Nabi to Squad for First Three ODIs Against New Zealand

Date:

India bring the Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler into their opening ODI squad after Prasidh Krishna is ruled out of the five-match series with a hamstring injury.

BENGALURU, INDIA — WEB DESK: India have added fast bowler Auqib Nabi to their squad for the first three one-day internationals (ODIs) against New Zealand, following Prasidh Krishna’s withdrawal from the five-match series due to a hamstring injury.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the squad change on Saturday, October 31, extending Nabi’s involvement from the final two matches to the entire ODI series.

The 29-year-old right-arm pacer was initially selected for the fourth and fifth ODIs but will now be available from the opening match on November 4.

Prasidh Krishna ruled out with hamstring injury

Nabi’s inclusion follows Krishna’s withdrawal after he failed to recover sufficiently from a hamstring injury.

The injury prevented Krishna from obtaining the required fitness clearance for the New Zealand ODI series.

His absence has prompted India’s selectors to adjust their pace-bowling options ahead of the opening matches.

Auqib Nabi gets opportunity in full ODI series

Nabi made his international ODI debut against the West Indies in September 2026.

The Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler has earned recognition through his domestic performances, particularly his contribution to Jammu and Kashmir’s maiden Ranji Trophy title in the 2025-26 season.

His inclusion in the opening three matches gives him an opportunity to strengthen his position in India’s international bowling attack.

India’s updated squad for first three ODIs

Shubman Gill will captain India in the opening three matches, with Shreyas Iyer serving as vice-captain.

The updated squad announced by the BCCI includes:

  1. Shubman Gill (captain)
  2. Rohit Sharma
  3. Virat Kohli
