Pakistan fast bowler faced disciplinary action over his on-field conduct during the Asia Cup 2025, including a fine and demerit points.
Web Desk – Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf faced disciplinary action from the International Cricket Council (ICC) following incidents involving his on-field conduct during the Asia Cup 2025.
The disciplinary proceedings followed high-profile matches between Pakistan and India, which attracted significant attention amid heightened tensions between the neighbouring countries.
Rauf was fined 30 per cent of his match fee and received two demerit points following an incident during the Super Four match against India on September 21, 2025. The incident involved gestures made towards spectators while he was fielding.
The fast bowler subsequently faced further disciplinary action over another incident during the Asia Cup final on September 28. He received an additional fine of 30 per cent of his match fee and two more demerit points.
The sanctions were imposed under Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses conduct that brings the game into disrepute.
Two-Match Suspension Followed Additional Sanctions
The additional demerit points brought Rauf’s total to four within a 24-month period. Under the ICC disciplinary framework, this triggered two suspension points, resulting in a two-match suspension.
The suspension affected Pakistan’s first two One-Day International matches against South Africa, scheduled for November 4 and 6, 2025.
The disciplinary action formed part of a wider series of proceedings involving players from both Pakistan and India following incidents during the tournament.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav was also fined 30 per cent of his match fee and received two demerit points for a separate breach of the same article. Pakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan received an official warning and one demerit point, while India’s Jasprit Bumrah received an official warning and one demerit point following an incident during the final.
The cases highlighted the ICC’s disciplinary framework for maintaining professional conduct and protecting the reputation of international cricket.
Rauf’s case remains a notable example of the consequences players can face when repeated Code of Conduct violations accumulate within the prescribed period.
