The coalition reported intercepting four drones heading towards the Madinah region; further details about the launch site and intended targets require confirmation.
RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: A Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognised government said on Wednesday that its forces intercepted and destroyed four drones launched towards Saudi Arabia, including drones over the Madinah and Eastern Province regions.
According to a statement reported by Saudi media, the coalition’s Joint Forces Command announced that the drones had been intercepted and destroyed. The announcement identified Madinah and the Eastern Province as the areas where the interception operations took place.
In a separate statement, coalition spokesman Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki said another drone heading towards the Eastern Province had also been intercepted and destroyed, according to regional reporting.
Details about launch sites and damage remain limited
The statements did not provide detailed information about where the drones were launched from, their intended targets or whether the incidents caused casualties or property damage.
The reported interceptions come amid heightened security concerns in Saudi Arabia and renewed attacks linked to the wider conflict involving Yemen. However, the announcement about these drones did not, by itself, establish who launched them.
Situation remains developing
The coalition’s account is the primary basis for the reported interceptions, and independent confirmation of the specific incidents remains limited in the available coverage.
Further official details may clarify the drones’ origin, intended targets and any consequences on the ground. Until then, responsibility for the reported launches and the full circumstances surrounding the incidents should be treated as unconfirmed.
