Five family members found dead inside locked flat in Karachi’s Bin Qasim

Date:

Police recover bodies of a couple, their two young daughters and the man’s sister in Karachi’s Malir area; authorities order a detailed investigation into the deaths.

Web Desk: Five members of a family were found dead inside a locked residence in Karachi’s Malir area on Tuesday, prompting Sindh’s senior police officials and home minister to order a detailed investigation.

According to Dawn, the bodies were discovered in a one-room apartment in Gulshan-i-Falaknaz, Block J, within Bin Qasim Town. The deceased included a middle-aged couple, their two daughters, both under six years old, and the husband’s sister, who was in her early 20s.

Bin Qasim Station House Officer Faisal Rafiq said the apartment was locked from the inside. He added that the couple had suffered fatal injuries and that a pistol was recovered from the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the deaths have not been conclusively established. Police have been directed to examine the incident from all possible angles before reaching a conclusion.

Sindh Home Minister Orders Investigation

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar took notice of the incident and sought a report from the senior superintendent of police for Malir.

According to Dawn, Lanjar directed the authorities to establish the facts and identify any individuals involved, with legal action to follow where warranted.

He also instructed officials to keep him informed about developments in the investigation.

Sindh Police Chief Calls for Forensic Examination

Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho also sought a detailed report from the relevant deputy inspector general.

The police chief called for a transparent and impartial investigation, including the immediate collection of evidence and forensic analysis.

Investigators have been directed to examine possible criminal aspects of the case and determine the actual causes of the deaths.

No final conclusion about the circumstances or responsibility for the deaths should be drawn before the investigation and forensic findings are available.

Bodies Transferred to Jinnah Hospital

The Edhi rescue service said the bodies were transferred to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi.

Further details about post-mortem findings, the sequence of events and the precise circumstances of the deaths were not established in the initial report.

Authorities are expected to examine the available evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.

Previous Case Raises Questions About Family Deaths

The incident comes less than a month after five members of another family, including a doctor, his wife and their three young daughters, were found dead inside an apartment in Karachi’s Ahsanabad area.

That separate case prompted the Sindh police chief to establish a high-powered investigation team.

The two incidents are separate, and no connection between them has been established.

Police have not announced a final finding in the latest case. The cause and circumstances of the five deaths in Bin Qasim remain subject to investigation.
