Pakistan Airports Authority confirms the temporary suspension of PIA flights to Riyadh, while other flight operations to Saudi Arabia continue as usual.
Web Desk: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has temporarily suspended its flights to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, amid the evolving security situation in the Middle East, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has confirmed.
The PAA clarified on Friday that the suspension applies specifically to Riyadh and that other flight operations to Saudi Arabia are continuing as usual. The authority also rejected social media speculation suggesting wider disruptions to flights serving the kingdom.
Why Has PIA Suspended Riyadh Flights?
PIA’s decision comes amid heightened aviation security concerns following attacks targeting Riyadh airport. Saudi authorities reported that three people were killed in the attacks, while several others were injured. The incidents have prompted airlines to reassess flight operations to the Saudi capital.
Several international carriers have also suspended or cancelled Riyadh services amid the security concerns, including airlines from Europe and India.
Other Flights to Saudi Arabia Continue
The Pakistan Airports Authority said flights to other Saudi destinations remain operational as usual, countering speculation that all Pakistan-Saudi Arabia air services had been suspended.
Passengers should nevertheless verify their individual flight status with their airline before travelling to the airport.
