Karachi to Experience Hotter Weather From Monday as Temperatures May Reach 38°C

KARACHI, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Karachi is expected to experience hotter weather from Monday, October 12, with daytime temperatures forecast to rise to between 36°C and 38°C, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Friday.

The expected increase follows changing atmospheric conditions that could influence the strength of sea breezes in the coastal city.

Despite the anticipated rise, the Met Office said temperatures would likely remain within the normal range for October.

Karachi Weather to Turn Hotter From October 12

The PMD expects daytime temperatures to increase at the beginning of next week, potentially reaching 38°C.

Changes in wind patterns may affect the cooling influence of sea breezes, contributing to warmer conditions across the city.

Karachi’s proximity to the Arabian Sea generally helps moderate temperatures, particularly when southwesterly winds remain active.

However, fluctuations in wind direction and intensity can influence how hot conditions feel during the afternoon.

The forecast does not constitute an official severe heatwave warning.

Current Weather Conditions in Karachi

On Friday, October 9, Karachi experienced partly cloudy conditions.

The Met Office reported southwesterly winds blowing at speeds of approximately 10 to 20 kilometres per hour.

The forecast suggests a shift towards hotter daytime weather as the new week begins.

Westerly Weather System Expected From Monday

Alongside the Karachi forecast, the PMD said a new westerly weather system is expected to influence Pakistan’s upper and northern regions from October 12.

The system could bring changes in cloud cover, winds and precipitation to affected areas.

Parts of Balochistan may also receive rainfall under its influence.

However, the department has not announced a widespread rainfall forecast for Karachi in connection with this weather system.

The expected rain in Balochistan should therefore not be interpreted as a forecast of rain across Sindh’s coastal areas.

Residents Advised to Take Precautions

With temperatures expected to rise, residents may benefit from taking routine precautions against prolonged exposure to afternoon heat.

Drinking sufficient water, avoiding unnecessary outdoor exertion during the hottest hours and seeking shade can help reduce heat-related discomfort.

Outdoor workers, older adults, children and people with health vulnerabilities may need additional care during warmer periods.

What to Expect Next Week

Karachi is likely to experience its hottest conditions during the early part of next week, with the PMD’s projected maximum temperature reaching 38°C.

Forecasts may change as atmospheric conditions develop, particularly if sea breezes strengthen or weaken.

The key distinction is that Karachi is expected to become hotter from Monday, but the PMD has not classified the forecast as an exceptional heatwave.
