PTI Long March Reaches KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s Hometown in Khyber

BARA, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) long march, led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, reached Bara in Khyber district on Wednesday, bringing the protest caravan to the chief minister’s hometown as the party continued its campaign demanding the release of former prime minister Imran Khan.

The march arrived in Bara after travelling through several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, drawing supporters and party workers along the route.

Afridi was welcomed by local residents and PTI activists, with participants gathering to show support for the party’s protest campaign.

The chief minister addressed supporters during the visit and reiterated the party’s demand for Imran Khan’s release.

The long march began from Lakki Marwat on October 4 following unsuccessful negotiations between government and opposition representatives.

PTI leaders have maintained that their protest will continue until their political demands are addressed, while the federal government has opposed attempts to use public demonstrations to pressure authorities into accepting conditions.

Afridi has repeatedly described the march as a peaceful political campaign and urged supporters to remain organised during the movement.

The arrival in Bara carried particular political significance because of Afridi’s personal connection to the area, where local supporters gathered to receive the caravan.

The protest has also highlighted continuing disagreements between the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration and the federal government over political rights, security arrangements and the treatment of the party’s leadership.

Federal officials have maintained that political disputes should be resolved through dialogue and constitutional processes rather than measures that disrupt public life.

PTI representatives, meanwhile, argue that public mobilisation is necessary to press their demands and seek greater political engagement.

The march has attracted attention across Pakistan as authorities monitor the movement of the convoy and the possibility of further demonstrations.

No confirmed date has been announced for a final gathering in Islamabad, and the next stages of the protest remain dependent on decisions by PTI’s leadership.

The latest development comes amid renewed calls for political dialogue, although no agreement has been reached between the government and opposition.
