Three Militants Killed in DI Khan Intelligence-Based Operation

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Security forces killed three militants during an intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district on Monday as counterterrorism operations continued across the province.

Security sources said the operation was launched after intelligence was received about the presence of militants in the area.

The three men killed during the operation were described by Pakistani authorities as members of “Fitna al-Khawarij,” the state-designated term used for militants belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Security sources said ongoing operations were weakening militant networks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and would continue as part of efforts to eliminate terrorism from the province.

The latest operation comes just a day after security forces reported killing eight militants in another intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan.

Three key militant commanders were among the eight killed in Sunday’s operation. Weapons, ammunition and foreign currency were also recovered during that action.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised security forces following Monday’s operation and said successful actions against militant networks represented an important part of the country’s counterterrorism campaign.

He reiterated that operations would continue until terrorism was eliminated and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to combating militant groups operating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and elsewhere in the country.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the security forces for the operation, highlighting their professional capabilities and commitment to counterterrorism efforts.

Dera Ismail Khan has witnessed repeated militant violence and security operations amid continuing instability in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Pakistan’s security forces have intensified intelligence-based operations in the province under the broader Azm-e-Istehkam counterterrorism vision.

Monday’s operation brings the reported number of militants killed in two separate DI Khan operations over two days to 11.

No casualties among security personnel were reported in the initial information released about the latest operation.

Further details about the identities of the three militants and the precise location of the operation have not yet been publicly released.
