Yemen Army Claims 414 Attacks on Houthi Targets in 24 Hours
SANAA, YEMEN — WEB DESK: Yemen’s army said it carried out 414 attacks against Houthi targets across multiple fronts within 24 hours, marking another escalation in fighting between government forces and the group.
Military spokesman Majed al-Nuzaili said the operations targeted Houthi reinforcements and military capabilities on several battlefronts.
According to the military, the attacks caused losses among Houthi fighters and damaged military equipment. However, the spokesman did not provide specific casualty figures or a detailed assessment of the damage.
The Houthis did not immediately comment on the Yemeni army’s latest claims, and the reported battlefield losses could not be independently verified.
The announcement follows another major series of operations reported by Yemen’s Defence Ministry a day earlier. The ministry said government forces had conducted 356 operations across 10 fronts during the previous 24-hour period.
The ministry claimed those operations killed or wounded 476 Houthi members. Those casualty figures were also presented as government claims and have not been independently confirmed.
Fighting in Yemen has intensified sharply in recent weeks, with government forces and the Houthis engaged across several strategically important areas.
The Houthis have made gains in parts of Al-Hudaydah and Taiz provinces during the latest escalation, including around the strategically important Red Sea coast.
The conflict has also placed renewed attention on areas close to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, one of the world’s most important maritime routes connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.
Yemen has been engulfed in conflict since the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, and other areas in 2014. A Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015 in support of the internationally recognised Yemeni government.
The latest military claims indicate that fighting remains intense, but the full scale of casualties and damage from the reported 414 attacks remains unclear.
