Indian journalist alleges Modi govt had political motives behind Pahalgam attack

Date:

Indian journalist Ajay Shukla has alleged that the Modi government used the Pahalgam attack to advance political interests, claims that remain allegations rather than independently established facts.

WEB DESK: Indian journalist Ajay Shukla has alleged that the Narendra Modi government had political motives behind the Pahalgam attack, renewing controversy over claims that the incident was used to advance domestic and political interests.

The allegations were reported by Geo News Urdu, which cited Shukla as claiming that the attack and its aftermath were part of a broader political strategy.

Journalist raises questions over Pahalgam attack

Shukla alleged that the Modi government used the Pahalgam incident to strengthen a narrative against Pakistan and divert attention toward political interests.

According to the report, he linked the alleged motives to the construction of a hotel associated with the son of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah and alleged land-related interests.

These claims have not been independently established in the material reviewed for this report and should be treated as allegations.

Other Indian critics cited

The report also referred to previous criticism from several Indian figures who have questioned the official narrative surrounding the Pahalgam attack.

It cited former Gujarat politician Shankersinh Vaghela, who has previously made allegations concerning the Modi government’s role in political violence.

The report also mentioned former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik, who had criticised the Indian government’s handling of the Pahalgam attack and its aftermath.

Claims remain disputed

The allegations surrounding the Pahalgam attack are politically sensitive and remain contested.

The Geo Urdu report presents the claims as statements made by Shukla and other critics. No independent evidence establishing that the attack was orchestrated by the Indian government was provided in the material reviewed.

For that reason, claims describing the incident as a confirmed “false flag” operation should not be presented as established fact without additional independent evidence.

Pahalgam attack heightened India-Pakistan tensions

The Pahalgam attack and the competing narratives surrounding it have been a major source of tension between India and Pakistan.

India previously blamed Pakistan-based militants for the attack, while Pakistan rejected allegations of involvement.

The dispute contributed to a sharp deterioration in bilateral relations and increased regional security tensions.
