Pakistan’s 61st Defence and Martyrs’ Day Commemorated in Thailand

BANGKOK, THAILAND — WEB DESK: Pakistan’s 61st Defence and Martyrs’ Day was commemorated in Thailand with a formal ceremony bringing together Thai officials, diplomats, defence representatives, journalists, business figures and members of the Pakistani community.

The event was organised by the Embassy of Pakistan in Thailand as part of commemorations marking Defence and Martyrs’ Day, according to Express Urdu.

Participants paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces as well as the country’s fallen personnel and veterans, highlighting their sacrifices, courage and commitment to national defence.

The gathering was attended by Thai officials, diplomats, defence attachés, journalists, business representatives and members of the Pakistani community, reflecting participation from both diplomatic circles and the wider Pakistani diaspora in Thailand.

A documentary related to Defence and Martyrs’ Day was screened during the ceremony, while Pakistani cuisine was also presented as part of the event. Organisers described the commemoration as an opportunity to renew the nation’s commitment to Pakistan’s progress.

Pakistan observes Defence and Martyrs’ Day annually on September 6, commemorating the 1965 Pakistan-India war and paying tribute to military personnel who lost their lives in service. Pakistan marked its 61st Defence and Martyrs’ Day in 2026, with commemorative events held across the country and overseas.

Pakistan’s military leadership said in its September 6 message that the day remained a symbol of national unity, courage and resolve, while paying tribute to martyrs, veterans and their families.

Similar diplomatic commemorations have been organised by Pakistani missions in other countries. The Pakistan High Commission in London, for example, held a Defence and Martyrs’ Day ceremony attended by British parliamentarians, government officials, ambassadors, defence attachés, journalists and other guests. Pakistan’s Press Information Department officially documented that event.

The Thailand ceremony also served as a platform for Pakistan’s diplomatic mission and community to commemorate the country’s military history while highlighting national unity and remembrance abroad.
