Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz attended her youngest daughter Mahnoor Safdar’s graduation from SOAS University of London.
WEB DESK: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz attended her youngest daughter Mahnoor Safdar’s graduation ceremony at SOAS University of London, describing the occasion as a moment of immense happiness and pride for her family.
Mahnoor completed her degree in Anthropology at SOAS after studying at the London university from 2023 to 2026. The graduation was part of the university’s September 2026 ceremonies in central London.
Speaking to Geo News after the ceremony, Maryam said she was extremely happy that her youngest daughter had completed her university education.
“I am very happy about my daughter’s graduation. I thank God that my youngest daughter has also completed her graduation.”
She said watching children complete their education was among the proudest moments for parents and expressed the hope that every child would have access to quality education.
Maryam says all three children have completed higher education
Maryam said Mahnoor’s graduation was particularly meaningful because all three of her children had now completed their higher education.
“My three children have completed their higher education,” she said, describing the occasion as a major moment of happiness for herself and her family.
The Punjab chief minister travelled to London specifically to attend the graduation and kept the visit largely private. No formal political engagements were announced during her short stay.
She did, however, meet PML-N UK leaders Ahsan Dar and Khurram Butt for a luncheon meeting.
Maryam rejects reports of divisions in PML-N
During her London visit, Maryam was also asked about reports of differences within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Rejecting suggestions that the party was divided, she said the PML-N remained united.
“Many came who tried to divide the PML-N, and many went away. The PML-N is still standing where it was,” she said.
Maryam also dismissed speculation about serious internal divisions within the ruling party.
CM highlights Punjab government’s performance
Responding to questions about governance, Maryam said other provinces should also work along the lines of Punjab.
She said her government was working day and night on development and public welfare and maintained that visible results required sustained effort and hard work.
For Maryam, however, the central focus of the London visit was her daughter’s graduation, which she described as one of the greatest sources of happiness and pride for parents.
