Prime Minister’s aide says the Supreme Court’s decision to transfer Imran Khan to hospital was independent and based on legal merit.
WEB DESK: A senior aide to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the Supreme Court’s decision regarding Imran Khan’s transfer to a hospital was independent and based on merit.
The remarks came after the top court directed that the former prime minister be shifted to a private hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
The prime minister’s aide maintained that the court reached its decision independently and according to the merits of the case.
Supreme Court orders Imran Khan’s hospital transfer
The Supreme Court ordered that Imran Khan be transferred to a private hospital until the next hearing.
The court also directed that a medical board be constituted to oversee his treatment and that he be moved under strict security arrangements.
The order followed proceedings concerning Khan’s medical condition, access to treatment and meetings with his family and doctors.
The court also sought Khan’s complete medical record and additional details regarding his medical care.
Government says court decision should be respected
The comments from the prime minister’s aide come amid political debate over the former premier’s health and treatment while in custody.
The government has maintained that matters concerning Khan’s medical treatment should be handled according to legal and medical procedures.
The Supreme Court has also directed that Khan’s family be allowed to meet him once a week during his hospital stay, while his medical care remains under judicial oversight.
Case to continue
The Supreme Court has adjourned further proceedings until September 16 and directed relevant authorities to provide additional records and information.
The latest ruling is expected to remain a significant development in the ongoing legal and political debate surrounding Imran Khan’s detention and medical treatment.
