The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad and City Council representatives.
Speaking to the media after the ceremony, Wahab said the renamed chowk represented an aspect of Karachi’s religious and cultural identity.
He described Karachi as a city whose residents have deep respect and affection for the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Mayor highlights lasting city projects
Wahab said the mayoral position was temporary, but expressed his commitment to his personal beliefs and values.
He also said efforts were being made to undertake projects in Karachi that would be remembered by future generations.
The renaming of the prominent Saddar intersection is part of the city’s broader efforts to highlight landmarks and public spaces through names reflecting different aspects of Karachi’s history and identity.
