Iran’s National Security Commission chief Ebrahim Azizi mocks Donald Trump over his claims about the Strait of Hormuz and references a reported security incident involving the US president.
WEB DESK: Iranian Parliament’s National Security Commission chief Ebrahim Azizi has criticised US President Donald Trump over his repeated claims regarding the Strait of Hormuz, telling the American president to focus on his own security instead.
In a statement, Azizi said Trump should pay attention to his personal security rather than making what he described as baseless and endless claims about the strategic waterway.
Iranian lawmaker takes aim at Trump
Azizi’s remarks came amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important maritime routes.
The Iranian lawmaker also referred to a reported security incident involving Trump last month, when the US president was allegedly moved discreetly between aircraft during a journey from Türkiye to Britain.
Azizi used the episode to mock Trump’s security situation while responding to his comments about Hormuz.
Tensions over Strait of Hormuz
The Strait of Hormuz has become a major point of contention between Iran and the United States amid escalating regional tensions.
Trump has made repeated statements about US control of the waterway, while Iranian officials have rejected Washington’s claims and insisted on Iran’s authority over the strategic route.
Iranian officials have also warned against what they describe as attempts to challenge Tehran’s position in the Gulf.
Hormuz remains strategically important
The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and is a critical route for international energy shipments.
Any prolonged disruption to maritime traffic through the waterway could have significant consequences for global oil markets, shipping costs and energy security.
The latest exchange between Azizi and Trump further underlines the increasingly confrontational rhetoric surrounding the strategic waterway.
