WASHINGTON – Web Desk: US Central Command (CENTCOM) has stated that American forces have diverted 55 commercial vessels, disabled two ships, and boarded two others as part of ongoing naval blockade operations against Iran.
In a statement on X, CENTCOM said US naval forces are strictly enforcing the blockade imposed on Iran, with American personnel monitoring maritime activities through warships deployed in the region. More than 20 US naval vessels are participating in military missions in the Middle East, including the USS Ross.
CENTCOM said the naval operations aim to make the Iran blockade effective and monitor commercial shipping traffic. However, the statement did not provide further details on the identity of the vessels, their flags, or the nature of the incidents.
US officials also did not clarify the extent of damage suffered by the two disabled vessels or the basis on which the other two ships were boarded. The increased US naval presence has raised concerns over further escalation in the region, with the Strait of Hormuz and other key waterways critical to global trade and energy shipments.
