Military leadership reiterates solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, calling for a peaceful resolution in line with UN resolutions.
RAWALPINDI, Pakistan — Web Desk: Pakistan’s Armed Forces have reaffirmed their unwavering solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal, reiterating support for their right to self-determination in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the military leadership, including the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, and the Pakistan Armed Forces, paid tribute to the resilience and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people. The statement emphasized Pakistan’s continued moral support for what it described as the legitimate struggle of Kashmiris.
The military also expressed concern over the situation in IIOJK, alleging continued human rights violations and demographic changes in the region. It stated that lasting peace in South Asia depends on a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant UN resolutions.
Youm-e-Istehsal is observed annually on August 5 to mark India’s 2019 decision to revoke Article 370 of its Constitution, which ended the special status of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir and reorganized it into two federally administered territories. Pakistan observes the day in solidarity with Kashmiris, while India maintains that the constitutional changes are an internal matter.
The statements come as both Pakistan and India continue to present differing positions on the status of Kashmir, with the issue remaining one of the longest-running disputes in South Asia.
