Human Rights Commission Demands Transparent Probe Into Swat Suicide Attack

Date:

LAHORE – Web Desk: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has strongly condemned the Swat suicide bombing, demanding a transparent and impartial investigation into the attack and calling for the perpetrators to be brought to justice swiftly.

At least 17 people, including 7 police personnel, were martyred in the attack. The HRCP expressed deep grief and concern over the tragedy, noting that the bombing occurred at a time when local residents were protesting against the deteriorating law and order situation, raising further questions about security arrangements.

The HRCP also expressed grave concern over attacks on a police station and Counter-Terrorism Department offices in Balochistan’s Kharan district, warning that the security situation in both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan continues to worsen. The commission emphasized that the protection of citizens and law enforcement personnel is the state’s primary responsibility.

The HRCP reiterated that all counter-terrorism measures must respect the rule of law and human rights, urging the government to bring those involved to justice and take effective measures to ensure the protection of civilians in affected areas.
