Pakistan Welcomes Kuwait’s Ratification of 2023 Defence Agreement

Islamabad says Kuwait’s approval of the 2023 defence cooperation agreement marks a significant step toward strengthening bilateral military ties.

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan has welcomed Kuwait’s ratification of the 2023 Defence Cooperation Agreement, describing the move as a major milestone in strengthening defence and security ties between the two friendly countries.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Foreign Office said Kuwait’s approval of the agreement reflects the long-standing relationship between Islamabad and Kuwait and demonstrates both countries’ commitment to expanding cooperation in defence and security matters.

The Foreign Office noted that the ratification paves the way for enhanced collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including military training, defence exchanges, capacity building and institutional cooperation. Officials said the agreement is expected to further deepen strategic engagement and contribute to regional stability.

Pakistan also expressed appreciation to the leadership and government of Kuwait for completing the ratification process, describing the development as another positive step in the growing partnership between the two nations.

The statement added that Pakistan remains committed to working closely with Kuwait to implement the agreement effectively and explore new opportunities for collaboration across defence and other sectors.

Pakistan and Kuwait have maintained close diplomatic relations for decades, with cooperation extending beyond defence to include trade, investment, energy, labour and people-to-people exchanges. Thousands of Pakistanis live and work in Kuwait, contributing to the country’s economy and strengthening bilateral ties.

The latest development comes during a period of increased diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Kuwait, with both governments expressing interest in expanding cooperation in strategic, economic and regional affairs.

Officials said the implementation of the defence cooperation agreement is expected to create new avenues for joint initiatives while reinforcing the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
