Houthis Claim to Have Shot Down Saudi Drone Over Yemen’s Saada Province

Date:

SANAA – Web Desk: Yemen’s Houthi group has claimed that it shot down a Saudi spy drone over the northern province of Saada, according to a statement by Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree.

Saree said the drone, identified as a “Quraish-type” aircraft, was targeted while allegedly conducting hostile activities in Saada’s airspace. The Houthi air defense unit successfully destroyed the drone, though the spokesman did not provide details on which weapon or defense system was used.

The Houthi spokesman reiterated that the group will continue operations to protect Yemen’s sovereignty and airspace, and considers it their legitimate right to respond to any alleged violations. Saudi Arabia has not yet issued an official response to the claim, and independent sources have not confirmed the incident.

Analysts say ongoing conflict in Yemen and drone activities along border areas continue to keep regional tensions high, with such incidents potentially complicating security dynamics between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
